The Fantastic Four

Part of what defines Hot Studio is the passion we bring to our work. And part of what stokes our passion is helping a client fulfill a meaningful mission.

In the recent past, we’ve been lucky enough to work with a variety of worthy organizations, some of them focused on enriching their local communities, some aimed at making the nation, even the world, a more humane place.

We’d like to introduce some of them to you. We hope that in the spirit of the new presidential administration you embrace this “new era of responsibility” and consider supporting them.

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the many cultural jewels dotting the Bay Area. We created a new website for SFMOMA that, among its many other functions, allows the public to educate themselves on a wide array of contemporary and modern art and artists. The site is just one more way the museum further enhances its legacy of excellence.

The California Academy of Sciences has long brought the excitement of the natural world to Golden Gate Park visitors. As the renovated museum’s incredible reception attests, there’s a hunger for what the Academy offers. When we helped them redesign their website, we kept that in mind, creating a beautiful online space where everybody, from schoolchildren to academics, could happily congregate—just like the museum.

Once Upon a School is the labor of love created by one of our long-time collaborating partners, the TED Conference, and a recent TED Prize winner, author, publisher and philanthropist Dave Eggers. The three of us working together, we created a website to inspire volunteer involvement in public schools. The site accomplishes that by highlighting useful examples to be found in people’s success stories. The site’s goal is to feature 1,000 such stories.

Architecture for Humanity, another TED Prize winner, seeks to bring professional design services to parts of the world that need them most: areas wracked by disaster, natural and man-made. Hot Studio helped the organization design a website where architects, project managers, community organizers, and others can collaborate on solving urgent building needs for housing, schools and clinics. We found great satisfaction in working with these noble organizations. In each case, they allowed us to live up to our core value: Be an active contributor to the betterment of society.
