Infor, the seventh-largest software provider in the world, specializes in business-to-business software solutions for customer relationship management, supply chain management, enterprise asset management, enterprise resource planning, and storage resource management. Hot Studio was asked to create a consistent look and feel across Infor’s many applications.

Exploring all the design possibilities
We scoured through Infor’s complex family of applications, including those from newly acquired software companies. We conducted visual design workshops and explored scalable designs. Our team took trips to the Netherlands and Atlanta to work closely with Infor.

Providing guidance through a style guide
It was important to create a standardized library of design specifications that developers could apply across future applications. Creating such a library of visual design elements from scratch was an enormous undertaking. It had to be extremely flexible, adaptable, and comprehensive with commentary and rules anyone could use.

A broad, flexible design system
The new design system we created covered the entire range of visual design elements including widgets, charts, page layouts, site structure, color palette, and data trees. We delivered an 80-page style guide in a wiki format so that any developer or designer at Infor could access and apply the designs to hundreds of applications, and update the guidelines as needed.
