Sharing a Faith of Millions United Methodist Church Website Design
The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a worldwide faith-based organization with 8.5 million members in the U.S. alone. UMC needed an online hub that would serve members, church leaders, lay leaders, and people looking for something new in their lives. Hot Studio was asked to redesign their website for that purpose.
Focusing various boards and agencies on a common goal
To create a site that met the needs of new and potential members, we immersed ourselves in the church’s vast organization. We collaborated with 13 different boards and agencies within the UMC, helping them all focus on common goals. Together we came up with a spiritual vocabulary that wouldn’t alienate visitors and conceived ways of communicating the international aspect of the church without relying on tired images.
A wealth of information and virtual introductions
The new site lets people find information about the church through an online topic-based encyclopedia that combines church news, reference materials, tools, and resources. It also allows them to “meet”—through video and text—the people who make up the United Methodist Church. The site provides a unified experience for diverse members worldwide.
