Tom and Lisa Finerty had an idea. What if a website could connect hobbyists and enthusiast gardeners with personalized information, community resources, and creative inspiration? They’d need a business strategy. They’d need to build a website from scratch. They’d need user experience know-how and hands-on developers. They’d need a partner like Hot Studio.

FULL STORY

Together, with the help of Hot and Pivotal Labs, a leading development firm, the Finertys planted the seeds for the first-ever Your Garden Show website.

How does your garden grow?
Running a start-up—it requires balancing the necessities of staffing and management and infrastructure without losing sight of what will make it or break it: the core product. Over the course of five months, Hot Studio led the Finertys through every aspect of the start-up experience from site information architecture to brand strategy to visual design to tying it all together with business modeling and forecasting. The end result was a company and a website with a mission to help make the world a greener place. And that was just the beginning.

Community gardens
Like community gardens everywhere, yourgardenshow.com must thrive on the support and insights of many. It’s on this premise that Hot Studio made social features central to the site experience. By encouraging gardeners to upload photos and videos, share logs of their garden activities, and explore and comment on each other’s work, this community garden bears fruit.
